Major General Hardeb Sing Kler MVC AVSM was well known in the Indian Army for his fearlessness and sharp wit. He led the army in the Indo-Pak war of 1971. He was one of the officers who entered Dhaka. After retiring from the army, he went first to Chandigarh and later to California. He was awarded the Mahavir Chakra and the Atibishishta Seva Padak. He joined the army at the age of 19. This vivacious fighter passed away in 2016 at the age of 93.
